Jul 16, 2016 As of 14 September 2015 SDR# (along with AstroSpy and SpectrumSpy) and works again in Linux on x86/x64 and ARM using Mono! This has been tested on Linux Mint 18 x64 and an Odroid XU4. The fact that SDR# worked in Mono at all was a happy accident. The author did not intend this and is not obligated to keep the code backwards-compatible with Mono. Gqrx is fairly easy to install on a new Linux Mint 18.1 installation. The available packaged version is 2.4.1 and the version you get following these instructions is 2.6.1, so worth a little command line effort. I haven't tried with 2.4.1 so don't know if it works. Sep 07, 2016 I rather soon knew I wanted to write my own, and I wanted to use the V4L2 API (that dvbusbrtl28xxu module you have to blacklist to use rtl-sdr is an SDR driver, not a video driver), but I had to upgrade to Linux Mint 18 to get access to it since it's a new API, and after doing so, I haven't been able to get any of the existing SDR software to.
I have been trying a number of tutorials to install SDR with a rtl2832.
This works: rtl_fm -f 96.3e6 -M wbfm -s 200000 -r 48000 - | aplay -r 48k -f S16_LE
I can listen to fm radio with this command.
I have a number of attempts to get a waterfall program working and the most promising is CubicSDR, which I can run from an AppImage.

The dongle shows up in the SDR Devices menu. I can select it and start it, but I don't see any input on CubicSDR and the waterfall is not moving.
I have an external antenna.
I don't know what I am doing.
